Heal the Bay was founded in 1985 to fight for a "fishable & swimmable Bay". We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Santa Monica Bay and Southern Califronia coastal waters safe and healthy for people and marine life.

• Our Beach Report Card rates water quality every week at beaches all over the state
• We manage the Heal the Bay Santa Monica Pier Aquarium
• Under our supervision, this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day attracted over 10,000 volunteers to the beaches in Los Angeles County
• We advocate at the local, regional and national levels on behalf of our coast
• Our other programs include a speaker’s bureau, a stream team and Key to the Sea, an educational outreach initiative
