Thank you to everyone who ran the 2019 Santa Monica Classic!September 10, 2019
The 2019 Santa Monica Classic was our best year of this event yet! We hosted a 5K and 10K, as well as the High School Challenge and the Surfer Shuffle Kids' Run. Starting at 2600 Barnard Way and ending just steps from the Santa Monica Pier, this course is known for being challenging and fun, with the bonus of being right by the ocean!
The race was held on September 8, 2019, a beautiful sunny day with an average temperature of 75 degrees. Participants raced a 5k or 10k distance and then enjoyed the various exhibitors at the Finish Festival on Santa Monica Pier.
53% of our athletes were female and 47% were male. The average age of these runners was 38 years old. Runners certainly wanted to challenge themselves to go the distance, as the 10K had 1,600 more runners than the 5K. The majority of runners were from California, but we were lucky enough to have runners from Texas, Arizona, and New York as well.
Santa Monica Classic represents the start of the race season for Conqur Endurance Group. After they run the Santa Monica Classic, participants often run the Pasadena Half Marathon or Pasadena 5K at the Rose Bowl, in pursuit of the Conqur LA Challenge medal or the Triple 5K medal, respectively.
If you missed out on the fun, you can still participate from afar by registering for the Virtual Race.
