The Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K is a truly unforgettable race experience, with a one of a kind finish line on the field at the world-famous Rose Bowl!

Where: The Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K will begin just outside the Rose Bowl Stadium.

Come enjoy the picturesque course through beautiful Pasadena, passing landmarks like the Colorado Street Bridge, Old Town Pasadena and Cal Tech University before a majestic finish on the field at the world-famous Rose Bowl.

Race Info

Rose Bowl Half Marathon 

The half marathon will begin at 7 am, side-by-side with the 5K, but in separate corrals. Please pay careful attention to your corral placement (based off projected finish times) and line up in the appropriate corral for your bib number range. 

*The half marathon has an age limit of 12 years old. All participants must be at least 12 years of age on race day. 

Rose Bowl 5K 

The 5K will begin at 7 am, side-by-side with the half marathon, but in separate corrals. Please pay careful attention to your corral placement (based off projected finish times) and line up in the appropriate corral for your bib number range. 

Rose Bowl Kids Run

The kids run will start at 10:30am at the half marathon start line and finish on the field of the world-famous Rose Bowl. The distance is approximately 400 meters or 0.25 miles. 

Ages: Recommended for children between 3-8 years old 

Packet Pick Up

This year we will be offering packet pick up at convenient locations on the Friday and Saturday before the race in lieu of an expo. All participants must pick up their own bib. There is no race day bib pick up without pre-purchasing VIP Hospitality.

Your packet includes: 

• Bib Number 
• Timing Chip 
• Gear Check Bag 

You must bring a valid photo ID to Packet Pick-Up. All participants are required to pick up their own Participant Packet. 

Individuals will be NOT able to pick up Packets on behalf of others.

Race Day Packet Pick-Up will ONLY be available to those who purchased the option in VIP Hospitality. Packets will NOT be mailed to participants. Please make travel plans accordingly, as no exceptions will be made to these rules. 

T-Shirts will be handed out before and after the race on event day.

Race Day Parking, Shuttles, & Transportation

The Rose Bowl is located at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, CA 91103.  

 Plan to arrive NO LATER THAN 6 AM to ensure you make it into the lots prior to the start of the race. There will be traffic starting as early as 5am -- do not plan to arrive late.

SHUTTLES: we will have FREE shuttles from Memorial Park Station in Old Pasadena again in 2023:

A free shuttle program will be available to and from Memorial Park Station and the Rose Bowl (Lot B). 

Shuttles will begin at 4:00 am on race day and will conclude 90 minutes following the conclusion of the race. Shuttle pick-up will be located on the corner of Holly St. and Raymond Ave. 

Paid parking is available at the Holly Street Garage and the Courtyard Marriott Public Parking Structure.  Parking fees may apply for $10 - $12.

PARKING

Parking is available in Lots K, F, D, I, and area H. Check the final info for maps.

We strongly encourage you to use the map and information provided as your GPS will lead you towards roads that are closed for the race.

Race Day Event Info

GEAR CHECK

Hosted gear check is available for half marathon and 5K participants only. Participants must use the clear plastic bag they received with their bib and the gear check tag must be securely attached to the drawstring. Gear check will open at 5:30 am and remain open until 11:30 am. 

START LINE & TIMES 

The half marathon and the 5K will start simultaneously, side by side at 7 am. Please pay careful attention to ensure you have entered the correct corral for your race distance. 

BATHROOMS

Portable restrooms will be available to athletes and spectators near the start line with additional restrooms available inside the stadium gates. 

PACE LEADERS 

Pace leaders will be available on race morning courtesy of the LA Road Runners. 

Find them in shirts that say, ‘PACE LEADER’ and they will carry flags which mark their projected finish time. Two pace leaders will be available for each of the following projected finish times:   

1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00.  

AID STATIONS 

5K participants will have a water station just prior to the Mile 2 marker.   

Half marathon participants will have hydration stations at or near the following mile markers: 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 11.   

An electrolyte drink will be available at all half marathon water stations except for mile 2. 

PET & STROLLER POLICY 

No dogs or other forms of pets may participate with their human at the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K. It is against Rose Bowl policy to allow pets to enter the stadium gates. 

Strollers will only be permitted in the 5K and must start at the back of the corrals.  

TIME LIMIT 

Please be aware that there is a four-hour time limit for this event. Any participant who falls behind the four-hour pace (18 minutes per mile) will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish the event. Additionally, those participants who have not made the turn south onto Wilson Street just before mile 6 by 9:30 am will be turned around on Green Street and will proceed to finish without completing this out and back section.

Awards

Age group awards will be mailed to the top three in the following age groups for both male and female in the 5K and the half marathon. Awards will not be available on race day. Age group awards will not be mailed internationally.
