The 2017 Santa Monica Classic is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2017. Registration opens on Wednesday, May 3rd at 10 AM. The 2016 event sold out in record time, so be sure to register early this year to guarantee your spot!

The 5K/10K is open to runners and walkers (strollers welcome, too!) of all ages and abilities.

All finishers will receive a finisher shirt*, finishers medal, post-race refreshments and an unforgettable race experience.

*Finisher shirts will only be available the the finish festival


The Start Line of the Santa Monica Classic is located just west of Ocean View Park on Barnard Way. Runners will be able to see the Start Line structure as they approach Ocean View Park.

Santa Monica Classic 5K

The race will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Runners should begin lining up for the Santa Monica Classic 5K no earlier than 7:30 am. Please seed yourself according to expected race pace — quicker runners at the front of the start chute, slower runners to the back. For those that will be walking with a stroller, please place yourself at the very back of the pack to minimize any disruption of other runners.

Santa Monica Classic 10K

The race will begin promptly at 8:30 am. Runners participating in the Santa Monica Classic 10K should wait until the 5K race has started and cleared the start chute before lining up for the start of the 10K race. Please seed yourself according to expected race pace — quicker runners at the front of the start chute, slower runners to the back. For those that will be walking with a stroller, please place yourself at the very back of the pack to minimize any disruption of other runners.

Race day bib pick-up will be held in Ocean View Park in Santa Monica, beginning at 6:30 am and closing at 8:00 am. Please allow plenty of time to pick up your race bib as the Santa Monica Classic 5K starts promptly at 8:00 am.

The Santa Monica Classic has two parking options: near the Start Line and near the Finish Line. No matter where you park, allow plenty of time to get to the start. Once the Santa Monica Classic 5K race has started at 8:00 am, many of the surrounding streets are closed and it becomes more difficult to make your way into the area parking lots. Plan to arrive between 30-60 minutes prior to the start of the race.

Parking near the Start Line:

Two parking lots are conveniently located near the Start Line of the Santa Monica Classic. Parking in each of these lots is $12. (Parking lot prices are set by the City of Santa Monica and are subject to change at any time.)

2100 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, CA — Accessible from the north by heading south on Ocean Ave and making a right on Bicknell Ave

Parking near the Finish Line:

Three parking structures are located near the Finish Line of the Santa Monica Classic on 2nd Street between Wilshire Blvd and Broadway Ave. Parking in each of these lots allows for 90 minutes of free parking with the next hour at $1 cost and any subsequent half-hours at a cost of $1.50. Note: Finish Line parking structures are located approximately one mile from the Start Line — please allow ample time to pick up your race bib.

Click Here to see a map of the Santa Monica Classic course. The Finish Line of the Santa Monica Classic is on Ocean Ave near the intersection of Ocean Ave and Broadway Ave. Participants will receive water and their finisher medal once they cross the Finish Line.

Pick up your finisher shirt, post-race refreshments, and other goodies at the Finish Festival on the Santa Monica Pier. The Finish Festival will be open 7:00 am – 11:00 am.
